"The noise in the streets of Indianapolis
sounded like that of a large party! Well, in a way it was a party, but one of a
different sort.", said Melissa Linden, Youth Press Corp representative and St. Julie
Billiart parishioner.
Nearly 200 young people and their chaperones from
our diocese made the trek to NCYC, December 6-9, joining with over 23,000 peers from
around the country. The energetic audience was full of national pride and
unified by their faith in God.
The Youth Congress, which involved 50 bishops and
350 teenagers in conversation about the call to many different types of vocations left
some bishops feeling they witnessed "new hope coming alive". They were
impressed that the young church of today was willing to give up a weekend to gather and
give praise to God. Bishop Quinn and five teens from our diocese participated in the
Congress.
