"All ministry with adolescents must be directed toward presenting young people with the Good News of Jesus Christ and inviting and challenging them to become his disciples...  If we are to succeed, we must offer young people a spiritually challenging and world-shaping vision that meets their hunger for the chance to participate in a worthy adventure."

"Will Our Kids Have Faith? (W.O.K.H.F)" Initiative Changes Name to "Strong Catholic Families: Strong Catholic Youth"

Over the past two years, the "Will Our Kids Have Faith?(W.O.K.H.F.)" initiative has engaged more than 2000 parents, parish leaders and educators in our diocese.  This parish-based process is designed to reach out and empower parents in Catholic parishes to form strong Catholic families.  As this process has blossomed into a national initiative, largely due to the work of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM), we are changing the name of W.O.K.H.F. to "Strong Catholic Families:  Strong Catholic Youth (SCF:SCY)" to reflect this growth.  As a member of NFCYM, our diocese is actively involved with this initiative now and has been since the beginning.

The program will continue to assist pastors and parish leaders who are seeking effective strategies in engaging parents in the life and mission of the parish as well as ways to help parents take ownership as the primary leader of faith within their families.

The NFCYM, the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership (NCCL) and the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers (NACFLM) are now partnering with the "SCF:SCY" initiative - currently being undertaken in nearly forty dioceses across the country.

The Strong Catholic Families program has recently been transliterated into Spanish, "Fortaleciendo Familias en la Fe (Strengthening Families in the Faith)", to address the unique needs and concerns of Hispanic parents and families.
