CYO Day Camps
The world is a much different
place than it was when the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization)
started offering day camping programs more than 60 years ago,
but some things remain the same. CYO still offers campers an
opportunity to discover a sense of self, an appreciation of
others and of nature and to feel the presence of God.
Parents tell us
that the best thing we do is to provide a positive, supportive
community where campers are appreciated and valued.
Our camps
offer opportunities for: learning new skills, making new friends,
learning about self and the enjoyment of the beautiful
outdoors.
Camp Happiness
Camp
Happiness welcomes children ages 6-21 with cognitive (mr/dd) and
other developmental disabilities. Camp Happiness began
over 40 years ago, in 1966!
We strive to fulfill our
mission by extending and complementing the educational
experiences provided to participants throughout their school
year and serving as a resource offering a period of respite for
the primary care giver/or participant.
The development of social skills and interaction with peers is
stressed. Efforts to build community integration and
socialization skills involve weekly special events and
interesting field trips to a variety of settings. Program
activities are designed to allow individuals a chance to
participate to the best of their ability as they develop skills
learned in school. |
