Pastoral Designee Sports Information
Welcome to CYO Athletics. You have been appointed by your Member Administrator of your parish, school or agency to administer your athletic program according to the standards governed by CYO.
The Pastoral Designee could be a veteran coach, teacher, staff member or parent that can demonstrate the
Mission of CYO Athletics and the Catholic Church while possessing the administrative skills needed to manage a large Youth Ministry program. The organizational framework of the Diocese of Cleveland CYO is clearly defined in the Charter & By-Laws. Please read this Charter & Bylaws document carefully. These are the fundamental building blocks from which you will build your program. Your active support and adherence to the spirit and letter of the Charter & Bylaws are imperative toward providing our success.

CYO endeavors to help young people be more Christ-like in the way they live. Your selection and recruitment of volunteer coaches and commissioners for your program is crucial toward this effort. Upon appointment, coaches must become teachers of the game grounded in their faith. Coaches are required to attend annual mandatory pre-season coaches meetings.

All coaches, both Head and Assistant Coaches, must attend a CYO approved Coaches Development Program before they are permitted to begin coaching. Please inform your coaches to pre-register for any session. For a list of classes and to pre-register, please visit the Coaches Development Program page.
