Meet Our Athletic Commissioners
Our Athletic Commissioners are an integral part of our CYO organization and staff
liaisons to help us manage our athletic programs. They are all very dedicated and look forward to serving and providing quality athletic programs in which coaches, parents, and athletes will have enjoyable experiences. John Abraham, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 53
John is retired from Catholic Charities Health and Human Services after giving 40 years of dedicated service. He has been involved with CYO for over 50 years as a coach, official, member of the Athletic Advisory Board and as a basketball commissioner 21 years. John was inducted into the CYO Hall of Fame and is also a Hall of Fame member of Holy Name High School.
Bob Bandsuch, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 45
Bob graduated from Ohio University. He has been the CYO Soccer, Volleyball and Basketball Athletic Commissioner for 6 years. Bob has been the scheduler and official assignor for the past 14 years. He is a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association and has held licenses in football, volleyball, and basketball. He is also an Ohio High School Athletic Association instructor for basketball.
Steven Crimaldi, Athletic Commisioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 51
Steve is the Commissioner for the CYO Wrestling program. He has served in this role for the past 6 years. In addition to his role as Commissioner, Steve spent ten years coaching for the St. Raphael CYO wrestling program. Before his coaching experience, Steve himself was a high school and college wrestler. Steve holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Psychology and runs his own organizational development consulting firm. He and his family live in Avon lake and are active members of St Raphael parish.
Mark Cuccia, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 47
Mark attended St. Rita school, and graduated from Chanel High School in 1979. He attended Edinboro for two years. Mark has served a CYO football and basketball commissioner for 11 years. He coached at St. Rita for 14 years, eight of those years as the head coach. Marked coached varsity at Gilmour for 3 sessions as special team’s coordinator. He also was head freshman coach at Notre Dame Cathedral Latin for two seasons and assistant varsity coach for one year.
Linda DeCarlo, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 42
Linda DeCarlo is a Softball, Volleyball and Swimming & Diving Official. She is the Secretary for the USSSA Northern Ohio Umpires Association and the Treasurer for the OHSAA Northeast Ohio Umpires Association. She is a member of the Willoughby Lions Club, a volunteer Puppy Raiser with Leader Dogs for the Blind, and has been a CYO Athletic Commissioner for basketball, baseball and softball since 2003.
Jim Farroni, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 43
Jim became involved with the Cleveland CYO in 1971 as an assistant track coach
at Immaculate Conception in Willoughby and he coached CYO until 1991. Jim served
as Lake Geauga CYO Advisory Board Member 1974 to 1982. He ran the Lake Track
program from 1982 until 2002. Jim has been a high school track and cross country
coach since 1989. He has been the CYO Track Commissioner beginning in 2002 until
present. Jim was the recipient of the Father O’Brien Award in 1994. He is owner
of JFP Technical Services, Inc., a materials testing laboratory and consulting
service since 1987.
Marcia Fialko, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 41
Marcia has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from Cleveland State. She has worked for the City of Euclid for 20 years, 12 of those in Recreation Administration, overseeing all of the youth sports programs. She has served as CYO Commissioner for basketball, softball, baseball, and volleyball since 2005 and has been a certified CYO coach since 1984. More importantly, as a parent, Marcia supported her son and daughter as they participated on their various CYO teams in both grade school and high school.
Debra Fortuna, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 48
Debra holds a Bachelors' Degree in Business Administration and has served 3 years as CYO volleyball commissioner. She will be starting her 4th year in the fall. Previously, she was a CYO volleyball coach.
James Granito, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 55
Jim has a four year degree and works for a local bank in the Cleveland area. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the Ohio Society of CPA’s and a member of the American Society of CPA’s. Jim has been the East side High School Boys commissioner for about four years. In addition to his duties as high school commissioner he also assigns officials for basketball for approximately 10 sites on the east side. Jim has been a certified Basketball official for 17 years and a certified Volleyball official for 10 years. He officiates high school, middle school and CYO games.
Kevin Heneghan,

Kevin has been a CYO Basketball Commissioner for 1 year. He has been a Certified OHSAA Assigner since 2004 and a Certified OHSAA Official for Football, Basketball, Baseball and Fast pitch since 1998. Kevin was a State Final Football Official in 2010. He is a member of the following associations: Cleveland Football Association, Lake Erie Basketball Association, Northern Ohio Basketball Association, and Suburban Umpires Association.
Fred Heyer, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 57
Fred graduated from Borromeo High School and John Carroll University. He has a BA degree and a Master of Education degree from John Carroll University. He was former teacher and Vice Principal at Benedictine High School. Fred was also former police chief, Commissioner of the LEL, and Assignor of officials in 6 sports. He is Secretary of the volleyball officials Association. He is an active official in softball, volleyball, and track. Fred was former commissioner of the Western reserve Conference and the East Suburban Conference. He was also former official scorer for the Cleveland Indians and The Lake County Captains. He also is assisting in VB rules formations. Fred has been CYO Girls Basketball Commissioner for Elementary, Developmental, and Cadet East divisions.
Joe Hooven, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 56
Joe was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been involved in CYO as a player in grade school and high school programs at Our Lady of Good Counsel and as a coach for the high school program at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Joe graduated from St. Edward High School in 1989. He is a site director and has served as Girls High School Basketball Commissioner and Boys Central High School Basketball Commissioner for the past five years. He works full time for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in North Olmsted.
Marcy Kane, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 46
Marcy received her bachelor’s degree from Baldwin Wallace College. She coached cheerleading for 9 yrs at St. John Nepomucene parish. She has served as CYO cheerleading commissioner for 7 years now. Marcy is married and has two children ages 5 and 2 and two step sons ages 16 and 21.
David Kirk ,

David began as the Cadet football commissioner in 2000 and is also the Elemental football commissioner. He is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College majoring in Business Administration and minor in education and psychology. Dave coached the Varsity St. Adalbert-St. Mary’s Berea football team and was the pastoral designee of St. Mary’s, Berea parish for nine years. He ran a recreational basketball program for the City of Cleveland for two years and was also the Head Coach for girls Varsity basketball team at Berea High School for five years. Dave is married and lives in Berea.
Kevin Leigh,

Kevin received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from John Carroll University in 1966. He is an OHSAA Track & Field and Cross Country Official. He has been the Cross Country and West Side Track & Field Commissioner since inception by CYO. He is founder of his parish CYO cross country program and served as director for over 20 years. Kevin was the Director of the West Side CYO Track & Field Program previous to inclusion in CYO for over 25 years. He is a former Advisory Board member and was inducted in the CYO Hall Of Fame in 2005.
Tom Madden, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 50
Tom has officiated the following sports: Basketball: 1976 to 2000, Football: 1979 to Present, Volleyball: 1995 to Present, and Baseball/Softball: 1986 to Present. He has worked as an official for the CYO in all these sports. In 1995, Tom began working for CYO as Central Basketball Commissioner and still serves in that capacity today. He also has been CYO Central Region Basket ball Referee Assigner beginning in 1986 to present. Tom has also been an Athletic Advisory Committee Board Member from 1990 to present.
David Muehlheim, Athletic Commissioner (330) 379-3636 ext. 42
David graduated from Archbishop Hoban High School. He has been the CYO High School Basketball Commissioner and CYO 8 man and 11 man football commissioner for 8 years. David has been a CYO site director for 17 years. He has also been statistician for St. Vincent St. Mary football for 11 years as well as coached CYO basketball for 9 years. He will soon be St. Vincent St. Mary Sports Booster Club President.
Mike Pacak,

Mike has been married to Denise Pacak for 24 years and lives in Strongsville. He graduated with a BBA from Cleveland State University. He works as a Financial Advisor for Thrivent Financial and enjoys helping people with financial advice and retirement strategies. He is a football commissioner and basketball assigner for CYO.
Kevin Smith, Athletic Commissioner (216) 334-1261 ext. 52
Kevin is a member of the St. Mary of the Falls parish. He has been involved with CYO athletics for 14 years. Kevin is beginning his 4th year as CYO basketball commissioner for the western divisions.
Stacy Shulan, Athletic Commissioner (330) 379-3636 ext. 45
Stacy has been a CYO Athletic Commissioner from 1997-present. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa in 1983. She also received her Ohio Teaching Certifications in Mild and Moderate Severe and Profound Mental Retardation from the University of Akron in 1985. Stacy received her M.A. in Education Supervision and Administration from the University of Akron in 1992. Stacy’s CYO Experiences include: Volunteer for Camp Happiness 1974-1978, Swimming Instructor/Head of Waterfront Dept. at Camp Christopher 1981-1983, Program Director Summer Recreation for Youth with Disabilities 1985-1996, and Program Director Recreational Respite 1991- 1996.
