Coaches Development Program
Once a coach accepts the responsibility to coach in CYO Athletics, they accept the responsibility to maintain a standard for excellence. Every coach, head and assistant, must attend the Coaches Development Program before they begin coaching.
Rooted in our mission and values, it is our intention to offer an informational and educational leadership-training program for youth coaches. The program outline session includes Youth Ministry Through Athletics, CYO Governance, Risk Management, Helping Young Athletes Safely Excel in Sports and Coaching Pedagogy.
Registration
The program is offered throughout the year in both the Cleveland and Akron areas. You can download a list of program sessions on the right. Coaches can either use the online registration link to the right where you can pay with a Visa or Master Card or complete a paper form. Cost is $30.00.
Once a coach completes the program, they will be issued a coaching card and lanyard. Every coach on the coaching staff must wear their credentials to every contest.
Replacement Card
If you have lost your card or need a replacement, you need to email
Roz (Cleveland area) and
Mary Ann (Akron area) with the following information in your email request:
- Your name at the time of certification
- Current Address
- Phone Number or email address you can be reached during the day
- Member Parish/School you are currently coaching for
The replacement card fee is $10.00. After making your email request, you must
bring your payment and pick up your replacement card at your area CYO athletic office between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Remember to make your request early. Credentials can take up to 10 days after your email request to receive.
