GENERAL INFORMATION

CYO Athletics offers a Varsity Football program for boys in grades 6 through 8.  (See CYO Player Eligibility Rules for guidelines).  Teams are formed from catholic parishes, schools or educational institutions in the Central,  Eastern, and Western areas of the Diocese of Cleveland.  

Boys Football games are played at various fields throughout the CYO service area.  League formation is based upon geography and CYO competition rules (See Bylaw 2-8 for details).  A boy’s football schedule is prepared by the CYO office and mailed to the head coaches.  The Diocesan Varsity Boys Football Championship game is played at Baldwin Wallace George Finnie Stadium at the end of the season.

 ENTRY PROCESS 

• A team entry form, $425 entry fee for Varsity Middleweight, and eligibility request forms must be received from members by the stated Team Entry Deadline August 8, 2008.  (Note:  This new fee applies to all East and West  Football divisions).  This fee MUST accompany your manual team entry. Be sure to enter the proper league Varsity Middleweight, or Combined on your parish entry form and/or online.  Click this link to download form Football Team Entry Form.

• Designees, if you enter your parish teams ONLINE in Sports Pilot, be sure to download this team entry confirmation form which MUST accompany your parish payment check.  ONLINE team entry check payments MUST BE PUT IN THE MAIL BY August 8, 2008 so we can mark your teams paid in Sports Pilot.

• Team eligibility rosters with completed pre-participation exam information must be received from members by the stated Eligibility Roster Deadline.  Eligibility Request forms MUST be completed for all out of parish athletes playing on your team and submitted to our office with your team entries.

CYO VARSITY FOOTBALL RULES

The Charter & Bylaws is the governing document for all CYO sports and member parishes.  It should be referred to for statements of philosophy and issues regarding eligibility, eligibility requests, adjoining parish rules, merging parishes to form a team, etc.
