GENERAL INFORMATION

CYO Athletics offers a cross country program for girls and boys in grades 4 through 8.  (See CYO Player Eligibility Rules for guidelines).  Teams are formed from catholic parishes, schools or educational institutions in the Central,  Eastern, and Western areas of the Diocese of Cleveland.   

Cross country meets are held at various sites throughout the CYO service area.  League formation is based upon geography and CYO competition rules (See Bylaw 2-8 for details).  A cross country schedule is prepared by the CYO office and mailed to the head coaches.  The Diocesan Cross Country Championship is held at the end of the season.

ENTRY PROCESS 

• Cross Country teams will be entered this Fall based upon  gender Boys Teams and Girls Teams as well as team size. Fees will be determined according to the fee schedule below.  A team entry form, entry fee, and eligibility request forms must be received from members by the stated Team Entry Deadline August 8, 2008.  Click this link to download  Cross Country Boys Team Entry and Cross Country Girls Team Entry forms.

• Designees, if you enter your parish teams ONLINE in Sports Pilot, be sure to download this team entry confirmation form which MUST accompany your parish payment check.  ONLINE team entry check payments MUST BE PUT IN THE MAIL BY August 8, 2008 so we can mark your teams paid in Sports Pilot.

• Team eligibility rosters with completed pre-participation exam information must be received from members by the stated Eligibility Roster Deadline.  Eligibility Request forms MUST be completed for all out of parish athletes playing on your team and submitted to our office with your team entries.

CYO CROSS COUNTRY RULES

The Charter & Bylaws is the governing document for all CYO sports and member parishes.  It should be referred to for statements of philosophy and issues regarding eligibility, eligibility requests, adjoining parish rules, merging parishes to form a team, etc.
