PURPOSE

The purpose of the CYO Coaches Development Program is to provide training for coaches that will enable them to promote the development of Christian values, physical skills, psychological skills, social skills, emotional growth, affirmation of gifts and spiritual strength in each athlete.

WHO MUST ATTEND

All coaches, both head and assistant coaches, must attend a CYO approved Coaches Development Program BEFORE they begin coaching.

ONLINE AND MANUAL REGISTRATION

Coaches, now you can register yourself online for a coaches development program (CDP) class with your credit card! Click the  online registration button below to visit the website where you can register yourself for a class.  Only credit card registrations are permitted online! Payment must accompany registration forms.  Faxes will NO longer be processed since they do not have payment accompanying them.

FEE

The fee for each coach is $25.00 whether you are paying with a check or a credit card. No Manual Registrations Can Be Processed Without Payment.  One parish check for all coaches and one registration form for each coach is suggested, although we will accept payment by individuals.  Checks should be made payable to the CYO.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Please note the CYO Coaches Development program will need a minimum of 20 registrants for the program session to be held.  Session dates will be cancelled if the minimum number of registrations is not met. Program date cancellation will be posted on this website page and registrants will be contacted by the CYO Athletic Office so that they can re-register for a future date.

BACKGROUND CHECK

Fingerprinting for background-check will be available for an additional fee of $30.00. You must bring $30.00 payment either cash or check on the program date in order to receive this service.  Fingerprinting service payment does not go to the CYO office, you must pay separate entity. The Fingerprinting will be completed before the Coaches Development Program begins, please come early.

VIRTUS TRAINING

Every CYO coach is required to attend the Virtus program.  The Virtus program is part of the Diocese of Cleveland's commitment to Protecting God's Children.  To learn of dates, times, and locations you may attend a virtus program, please check with your parish or register at www.virtus.org.  Registration for CDP does NOT include Virtus Registration!  Virtus Registration needs to be done online BEFORE the training.  Click link below:

CYO CERTIFIED COACHES LOOKUP

As a convenience for Pastoral Designees and coaches, we are putting the list of CYO Certified Coaches through July 2007.  These lists contain coaches name, parish, and date certified, and are alphabetically listed by last name.   To open these PDF files by coach last name,  click the appropriate links below.  Once you have opened the file, on the tool bar click edit, then select the FIND option and type in the last name of the coach you are looking for.  The FIND feature will search the document for that name.  The lists are split into four alphabetical sections as follows: CYO CERTIFIED COACHES ARCHIVE THROUGH JULY 2007     (updated 4/20/08) CYO CERTIFIED COACHES LIST BEGINNING AUGUST 2007 THROUGH APRIL 2008.  (Click the link below to access certified coaches list by parish for coaches who were certified after August 2007)

CYO COACHES BAR CODE CREDENTIALS

REMEMBER ALL CYO COACHES MUST BE CERTIFIED before they can coach a CYO team!  They must also wear their barcode credentials at all CYO games and tournaments!  If you have lost your original barcode card, contact Rosalind Dowdell at rdowdell@clevelandcatholiccharities.org now.  You must include your full name, parish, complete address, city, zip and date you were certified (if you know it) in the email. Replacement cards are $5.00; make check payable to CYO and mail to CYO Athletic Office, 7911 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH  44102. Return to Top
