Purpose:
The Pope invites young people from all
over the world to attend and celebrate together at World
Youth Day (WYD). WYD is
six days of fun, prayer, catechetical sessions, informal
gatherings, and festival events plus a vigil and
concluding mass with the Pope for youth & young adults,
ages 16 – 35. This gathering is held
every three years at an international location.
Our office assists parishes with preparations for
attending WYD by:

Seeking out and sharing relevant information related
to:
-
Registration
-
Transportation
-
Housing and meal options
-
Providing training on request for WYD group leaders.

Facilitating the connection and networking of
individuals & groups making the pilgrimage to WYD.

Assisting parish with participants’ integration back
into their local faith communities by providing
strategies and resources.
Population Served:
Youth & young adults, ages 16
– 35, and parish designated adult chaperones for youth.
Criteria:
Registration process must be completed.
Parish designated chaperones should be screened and are
required to have VIRTUS training as part of the Diocesan
youth protection policies.
Fees:
Registration fee plus housing,
transportation and other trip related expenses.
