WHEN IS IT? The
conference will be held Nov 17-19, 2011. We will travel Nov 17th and return
Nov. 20th. Students should request excused absences from school on Thursday,
Nov 17 and Friday, Nov 18th. An
excused absence memo is available on this site.
WHO CAN GO? NCYC is a conference for high school youth. All youth must be in 9th-12th grade during the 2011-12 school year to attend as a youth participant with their adult chaperones. Young Adults: Those between 18-20 who have graduated from high school and act in a leadership capacity within a parish youth ministry program on a regular basis are invited to register as adult leaders but cannot be counted toward the chaperone ratio. They must comply with Protecting God’s Children policy. Chaperone to youth ratio is 1:5. Chaperones must be over 21, provide proof of Virtus Training and be screened using forms provided. Every parish group must have a minimum of 2 chaperones.Protecting God’s Children: All adults, 18 and up, must show compliance with the Protecting God’s Children policy. A copy of the Virtus attendance certificate and the date of completion should be sent to Lynette Taylor by mail: Youth & Young Adult Ministry & CYO Office, 7911 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102HOW WILL WE GET THERE? The Cleveland Diocese will be traveling by motor coach -a quick 6-hour trip! These coaches will provide daily transportation between the hotel and convention venue. Hotel accommodations for the Diocese of Cleveland will be provided by Staybridge Suites in the Castleton area of Indianapolis (a short 25-minute drive to downtown). All rooms have suite-style accommodations and include hot breakfast buffet opening at 6:30am. It is our hope to lodge all diocesan pilgrims in one hotel, but rooms will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. If the current holding of 100 rooms is exceeded, groups will be assigned through the NFCYM housing lottery and extra charges may apply. HOW MUCH? The Diocesan Pilgrimage Package is priced at $475.00 per person for both youth and adults. The package includes: Motor coach transportation, to and from Indianapolis, as well as daily service to and from the convention venue; NCYC Conference Fees; Lodging; Taxes; Pilgrimage Prayer Resources; and a T-shirt for each pilgrim. Scholarships funds are available in limited supply. Please apply early. NEW THIS YEAR: ANIMATOR SCHOLARSHIPS! Ever wonder how the teens who are part of the main stage get to do all that? It’s simple –they chose to share their talents by applying to be NCYC Animators! Once accepted, they commit to attending Animator Camp over the summer. This year’s Animator Camp will be held in Indianapolis during the month of July 2011(exact dates to be released in early 2011). The cost for this camp is $250. This year the Diocese of Cleveland will provide four scholarships thanks to generous support earned through the 2010 "Walk on the Wild Side" event.
