The Cleveland
Diocesan
Committee
for Girls'
Religious Programs |
|
|
|
It is the goal of the
committee to promote spiritual growth in young people by providing
opportunities, and special experiences that enable them to become
concerned and sharing individuals of their family, church and community.
Adult advisors are trained in the Family of God, I Live My Faith and
Marion Medal Programs to work with participants in promoting the
expression of the young person's faith through positive actions and
concrete spiritual experiences. The programs are intended to
complement the formal religious education provided by the Catholic
Parish School and PSR programs.
All programs are
official religious recognition programs of the Roman Catholic Church in
the USA for youth enrolled in Girl Scouts, USA, Camp Fire, Inc., parish
youth and other similar organizations.
The certificates and
medals designed for each of these programs should be presented upon
successful completion of the programs. They serve as both a
reminder of the learned experience and as symbols of commitment to faith
through prayer, service and responsible community participation.
For further
information on any of the programs or activities, or for applications
and/or information in nominating a recipient for the adult recognitions,
contact any of the following listed in the
contact section. |

in the 2nd and 3rd grade who are enrolled in Girl Scout, Camp Fire and
other Parish programs. It is an activity series developed to,
complement the catechetical efforts of the parish and families. It

parish. The parents and adults advisors help the girls to grow in
religious awareness by talking about the experiences that make up the
program. The suggested completion time is approximately three
months. |

I
Live My Faith

Christian formation for girls 4th through 6th grade. It is
organized into project units that seek to develop in each individual an
awareness of her potential as a growing person, a responsible member of
the family, a citizen and a participant in the community of Faith.
Completion time takes about six months. |

Marian Medal
The Marian Medal program is designed for
girls 7th grade and up, to enable them to come to a better understanding
of Christian living. It features active involvement in
understanding Mary as the model of openness and spirituality. The
program develops a Christian spirit of hope and faith and a joyful
Christian Community. Throughout all the activities participants
are asked to hold Mary as their role model, as an example of the Church
serving our brothers and sisters in Christ. Completion is
