Volunteer Opportunities

We invite you to explore the various ways you can make a difference in someone’s life and perhaps even your own. Whether you are a student or a retiree, working or looking at gaining experience, your help is important in any one of the following programs.

Summit Adult Day Services provides programs designed to help older adults maintain their independence and remain in their communities. Volunteers are needed to assist with activities, lead a discussion group, demonstrate a craft, or share a skill with participants.

Camp Christopher offers year-round camping including traditional resident and day camping experiences, camping for persons with developmental disabilities, family camping, environmental education and leadership training programs. Volunteers are needed to assist as a day camp assistant, be a companion/aide to the disabled, or be a part of grounds maintenance. Many volunteer positions are seasonal.

Community Hot Meals operates twice each week at no charge for individuals and families in need. Volunteers are needed to set-up, cook, greet, serve and clean-up.

Food Pantry provides families with basic food needs. Volunteers are needed weekly to pack grocery bags and help distribute food.

Hispanic Services provides support and assistance for families with very limited English speaking ability. Support is available to help negotiate social, educational, medical and legal services. Spanish speaking volunteers are needed to help coordinate services for area residents.

Office and Special Events Volunteers supplement program areas as needed with clerical support, committee assistance, and other duties as assigned. Dates and locations vary.

Recreational Respite gives persons with developmental disabilities enjoyable structured activities and community recreation on the weekends. Volunteers are needed to assist as companions, program aides, and activity assistants.

SumFun offers young persons with special needs participation in a multi-week summer day camp experience. This service is offered in multiple locations throughout Summit County. Volunteer opportunities include assisting with games, activities, and meals while giving program staff one-on-one time with participants.

Teens for Service provides opportunities to high school students who seek to serve their community, learn about social justice, and explore career possibilities. Meetings are held once a month and always include a volunteer service component.

The Women’s Board of Catholic Charities Community Services, established in 1968 as an auxiliary support group, strives to promote agency programs through volunteer service, fundraising and donations. Their main programs are the holiday Bags of Love project and the spring Style Show Luncheon. Membership is open to all women of all ages. Meetings are held monthly from September – June.
