David Anthony Vinson Sportsmanship Award

The tradition began at the 1994 Ohio State CYO High School Tournament. This award was named in his honor, David Vinson a coach for the Hamilton St. Ann/St. Joseph girls’ team, who suffered a heart attack prior to the 1993 tournament consolation game and died the next day.

The first ever “David Anthony Vinson Sportsmanship Award” was presented to a girls’ team who showed outstanding sportsmanship qualities throughout their tournament play. This tradition has continued
and the award is presented to a girls’ team and a boys’ team at each tournament in his honor.
