Stepfamilies Working Together

 Who We Are

•  We are a network of stepfamily peer support groups that meet in Catholic parishes in the Cleveland Diocese.

•  We are for  married or engaged couples who are, or will be forming a stepfamily; that is, where one or both will be a stepparent to the other’s children.

•  Couples do not have to be Catholic but must be legally married or engaged to be married.

•   We are not a therapy group. 

 What We Do and When We Meet

• Meetings are held twice a month at various Catholic parishes in the Cleveland diocese and usually run from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  

• A book for stepfamilies serves as a discussion starter.  Couples will be asked to purchase a copy for a small fee.

• Each meeting will focus on a topic affecting stepfamilies.  Individuals will be invited to join in the discussion, sharing their thoughts and experiences with the hope that all in attendance might learn new ways of coping with the challenges associated with stepfamily life.

• Each meeting is facilitated by a married stepfamily couple who are in good standing with the Catholic Church. They will offer participants support through what can be a very difficult time. These people are not trained counselors but are people living the stepfamily experience who can offer personal support and encouragement. 

• Everything said in the meetings is held in strict confidence and all opinions and emotions are respected.

• Meetings may begin and end with prayer.
