Best Buddies, Special Olympics and supporters from across the world unite in support of a grass roots movement challenging the use of the R-word, an outdated word that must be recognized for its hurtful impact on people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Spread the Word to End the Word raises the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the R-word and encourages everyone to stop using this word by signing the pledge and encourage friends to do the same.

Congratulations to Fr. Joe McNulty
Fr. Joe is the 10th recipient of the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Award from Catholic Charities Health & Human Services. This award is given to the person who most demonstrates the mission and vision of Catholic Charities! Fr. Joe received this award on Friday, November 13, 2009, in honor of his work for persons with disabilities and to the poor. He joins our own Director of Disability Services, Dennis McNulty, who received the award in 2000.

The Cleveland Catholic Deaf Community surprised Fr. Joe McNulty on September 19, 2009 with a party to congratulate him on his 40^th anniversary as a priest and to celebrate his birthday!

When persons with disabilities and their families enter the world of Catholic Charities Disability Services, they also enter the larger world of the Catholic Charities system linking them to more than 100 other services in the Catholic Charities system throughout the eight-counties of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
