Fr. Joe Receives the 2008 Henri J. Nouwen Award!
We are pleased to inform you that, Fr. Joseph McNulty, Director of Catholic Charities Disability Ministries, has been named the recipient of the 2008 Henri J. Nouwen Award. This award is given by the Religion & Spirituality Division of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), the oldest national advocacy organization for persons with cognitive disabilities (mr/dd). The award will be presented in Washington, D.C. in late May.
Fr, Joe was chosen because the AAIDD recognizes him as one who reflects the compassion, commitment, ministry and servanthood that values and esteems people with developmental disabilities.
The award is named for Henri J. Nouwen, a noted author, teacher and advocate for the poor. The AAIDD gives the award out of a deep respect and high regards for Henri J. Nouwen, his pastoral heart, sensitive compassion and dedication to each individual’s spirituality.
Recipients of this award must demonstrate certain characteristics. They must demonstrate:
