ICDA-US Conference - July 17 - 21, 2009

The International Catholic Deaf Association  (ICDA)

Chapter #18 - Cleveland Catholic Deaf Center

will host the ICDA-US Conference

Renaissance Hotel, downtown Cleveland

There will be five workshops, Daily Masses, Nautica Cruise trip,

Lolley the Trolley trip and a banquet

Workshop presenters will be:  Fr Tom Coughlin - deaf priest; Deacon Patrick Graybill- deaf deacon; Kate Slosar - deaf PW; NCOD presenter (TBA); Sr Rita Wiggentin - a Sister who works in Deaf community and is fluent in ASL language
 

The theme is "Changes, Challenges, Opportunities; Trust, Faith and Hope. "

Interpreters will be provided.

Irish American Archives Society Walks of Life 2009 Award

Congratulations to Mary Ellen Kenneley Czelusniak as she receives the “Walk of Life” award from the Irish American Archives Society. Mary Ellen was honored because of her twenty years of ministry as a pastoral worker for Catholic Charities Office of Deaf Ministry. Mary Ellen is the first deaf person in the United States to serve as a full time pastoral minister. We feel very proud that Mary Ellen is receiving this honor because of her many years of outstanding dedication as a religious education teacher, a home visitor of the deaf, a leader in Mary’s Rosary guild and the Cleveland Catholic Deaf Center, and a generous person, always willing to give of her time and her skills to make the world better. 

Congratulations Mary Ellen!!

Catholic Charities Disability Services and Ministries offer people with disabilities throughout the Diocese of Cleveland opportunities and resources to live life to their potential and to participate fully in Church and society.

Catholic Charities Disability Services is part of  Catholic Charities Health and Human Services an integrated system of services and ministries. Catholic Charities Health and Human Services continues the mission of Jesus by providing vision and leadership for those who respond to the health and human needs and social concerns for the people of the Diocese of Cleveland.

When persons with disabilities and their families enter the world of Catholic Charities Disability Services, they also enter the larger world of the Catholic Charities system linking them to more than 100 other services in the Catholic Charities system throughout the eight-counties of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
