Paul Kelly, Youth & Young Adult Ministry Specialist

Purpose: To provide quality training based on the US Bishops’ competency standards around the essential knowledge and skills for youth ministers, as recommended by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. Classes focus on Renewing the Vision, the National document approved by the Bishops on Youth Ministry and provide excellent presenters with the opportunity for dialogue and discussion. Program elements include Foundations, Components and Issues. Avenues Workshops offer the opportunity to network and share experiences with fellow Youth Ministers on the parish and diocesan level. Those completing coursework receive a Youth Ministry Specialization. Avenues is part of the joint certification training program in collaboration with Pastoral Ministry Office and the Office of Catechetical Services.

Population Served: Those interested in ministry with youth, including: Coordinators of Youth Ministry; Directors of Religious Education; Youth Ministry Volunteers; High School PSR Catechists; High School Teachers; Priests and Deacons; and Parish Leadership Teams.
