Catholic Charities began providing services in Lake County in 1947. The agency has always been focused on meeting the emotional and social service needs of the community. This continues today through mental health, emergency services and outreach programs.
Currently, services are designed to help families with specialized needs. The Families of Promise program helps children and their caregivers cope with the challenges that come from their their parent's incarceration. Another specialized service, Familias Fuertes (Strengthening Families) is offered to Latino youth and their parents. This program is provided in collaboration with the Lake County Juvenile Court. Through our Hispanic Services, several programs are provided to reach out to the Latino community. Case management assistance, leadership training and counseling are also offered.
Emergency rent/mortgage assistance is provided to families who meet specific eligibility requirements. Families facing an emergency related to a food shortage can be helped through the Food Force Food Pantry.
