Ashland CountyCatholic Charities has been a vital presence in Ashland County since 1950, striving to meet the emotional and social service needs of the community. We continue to work to identify needs and provide services such as mental health counseling, prevention programs for youth and adolescents, mentoring programs and family strengthening services. For families who meet specific eligibility requirements, Catholic Charities Community Services of Ashland County can offer available emergency assistance and referral sources to provide additional support to meet family needs.

Programs and Services



ACT Teen Mentoring

Purpose: To prevent teens from using alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

Population Served: Ashland County Teens aged 11 through 17.

Criteria:None.

Fees:There is no charge for this program.

Major Funders: Ashland County Mental Health and Recovery Board; Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.

Child Assault Prevention

Purpose: An empowerment-based program that teaches assault prevention skills to preschoolers through high school and adults.

Population Served: Workshops available for Ashland County children, parents and school personnel.

Criteria:None.

Fees:A mimimal fee may apply.

Major Funders: United Way of Ashland; Catholic Charities Annual Appeal; Mohican Area Community Fund; Target Foundation.

Counseling

Purpose: Individual, family, marital, early childhood, and group mental health counseling; diagnostic assessments and case management (CSP).

Population Served: We serve all persons.

Criteria:None.

Fees:Sliding fee scale; Medicaid; private insurance.

Major Funders: Ashland County Mental Health and Recovery Board, Catholic Charities Annual Appeal, Hugo Young Foundation.

Emergency Assistance

Purpose: To provide emergency assistance funds.

Population Served: Clients of Catholic Charities Services of Ashland County.

Criteria:Must reside in Ashland County and be registered as a client.

Fees:There is no charge for this service.

Major Funders:Catholic Charities Annual Appeal.

Parent Support Mentoring Program

Purpose: To provide family-stability, parenting skills including positive parenting techniques and information on child abuse and neglect including prevention.

Population Served: Ashland County Families with children aged 0-18 years.

Criteria:Must reside in Ashland County and be registered as a client.

Fees:There is no charge for this program.

Major Funders:United Way, Ohio Children's Trust Fund

Golden Center Multi-Generational Mentoring

Purpose: To provide an environment for the organization of activities for older adults; and, multi-gererational mentoring between older adults and elementary students.

Population Served: Older adults and students grades 2-6.

Criteria:Age 55 and older or a student in Multi-Generational Mentoring

Fees:There is no charge for this service.

Major Funders:Hugo Young Foundation; Ashland County Mental Health and Recovery Board

No More Bullies/No More Victims

Purpose: To educate, inform, motivate and support the entire school community in an effort for prevention and/or response to bullying.

Population Served: School staff, faculty, parents and students.

Criteria:Ashland County Residents

Fees:Minimal fees may apply.

Major Funders:United Way

Ohio Regional Training Center

Purpose: To coordinate projects, certify trainers and facilitators, ensuring continued compliance with CAP National requirements.

Population Served: Ohio Counties.

Criteria:Ohio Counties.

Fees:Membership dues and training fees.


Strengthening Families

Purpose: To decrease usage of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs, and reduce risky behavior in youth.

Population Served: Families with children 10-14 years of age.

Criteria: Ashland County Residents
