Established by Bishop John P. Farrlley in 1911 and officially incorporated in 1919, Catholic Charities Corporation raises needed funding, primarily by conducting the annual Catholic Charities Appeal, in support of the health and human service needs of the people of the Diocese of Cleveland."

The Catholic Charities Corporation with the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland Foundation conducts the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal in Catholic Churches and among the Catholic faithful of the Diocese of Cleveland. In 2008 $11 million was raised for the programs and services that comprise the Secretariat for Catholic Charities Health and Human Services.

                             About the 2009 Annual Appeal

The Catholic Charities Annual Appeal provides support for the health and human services programs located in the Diocese of Cleveland. For 98 years, Catholic Charities has been helping people in our community. Catholic Charities follows Christ’s teachings by serving more than 300,000 people each year in Northeast Ohio. Our network of 160 health and human services programs is available to members of each of the 227 parishes of the Diocese and people of all faiths throughout our community.
